Driving records and license checks.
License status, points, suspensions, and DOT driver history live at the DMV and in federal driver systems — not in criminal courts. If someone drives for you, these are the searches that say whether they should.

The short version
There is no national driving record. Each state DMV sells its own MVR with its own fee and rules, and DOT-regulated work adds federal systems on top: Clearinghouse queries, PSP crash history, CDLIS license pointers. This category covers both worlds.
If you only remember one thing
MVR is the baseline for anyone who drives. DOT-covered CDL work is a different legal universe — Clearinghouse, PSP, prior-employer drug and alcohol inquiries — and the standard vID package does not pretend otherwise.
When you need these.
Anyone who operates a vehicle for you
Last-mile, home services, youth-sports carpools with a van, church buses. Pull the MVR. Consider MVR monitoring if they keep driving.
CDL and interstate DOT work
Clearinghouse queries, PSP, CDLIS, DOT testing, and often a DOT physical. Talk to us before treating any single product as a DOT program.
What this category includes.
- 01
Motor vehicle record
State DMV driving record
A criminal search will not show a suspended license — only the DMV has it. DataFacts, JDP, 3rd Degree, NCSI, and Samba-connected partners query state DMVs directly, and vID binds the person to the scanned license so the wrong person’s record is not pulled.
What it covers - 02
FMCSA Clearinghouse
Federal CDL drug and alcohol database
Queries run as a regulated workflow with the right consent and query type (limited vs full), through DataFacts, JDP, and other network CRAs. If you operate CDL vehicles in interstate commerce, the package is built as a DOT program — Standard does not cover this.
What it covers - 03
PSP report
FMCSA crash and inspection history
MVRs are state-scoped and crash and inspection data is federal, which is why PSP exists. DataFacts and other transportation-heavy CRAs sell it as a named driver product.
What it covers - 04
CDLIS
Multi-state CDL pointer system
A one-state MVR misses the suspension in the state the driver just left; CDLIS tells you to pull the other MVR. Network CRAs that run real DOT packages already include it or offer it.
What it covers
How these get fulfilled.
Partner CRAs hold direct-to-DMV connections (and, in some cases, driver-monitoring platforms) covering all 50 states. DOT products — Clearinghouse, PSP, CDLIS, DOT testing — are fulfilled by the CRAs and TPAs in the network that already run regulated fleets. vID still binds the driver to the license they present.
Frequently asked questions.

If they drive, add the record that says so.
MVR for anyone with keys. Clearinghouse, PSP, and CDLIS when you are actually in the DOT world. Identity-verified, fulfilled through the network.
