Watchlist and sanctions screening.
OFAC, OIG, SAM, FACIS, global watchlists, and wants-and-warrants are separate lists kept by separate agencies, each with its own duty when you get a hit. None of them is part of a criminal search unless you add it.

The short version
Hiring an excluded provider or onboarding a sanctioned name is a compliance event even with zero convictions. These searches check the lists directly — with identity verification behind them, because name-only lists false-match constantly.
If you only remember one thing
Healthcare exclusions (OIG, SAM, FACIS, state lists) are usually a monthly duty, not a hire-day search. OFAC is a finance and logistics duty. Name-only lists false-match constantly — identity verification is what makes a hit usable.
When you need these.
Federally funded healthcare
Anyone who might bill Medicare or Medicaid, or work for an entity that does, needs exclusion screening. Point-in-time at hire is not the obligation; ongoing monitoring is.
Finance, export, logistics, and government contracting
OFAC SDN and related sanctions lists, plus often BIS denied-parties. A county criminal search will not tell you this.
Youth sports and international volunteers
Wanted lists and international watchlists catch people who never generated a U.S. county file. NCSI-style youth programs treat this as part of the baseline, not an exotic add-on.
What this category includes.
- 01
OFAC & sanctions screening
U.S. Treasury sanctions list check
JDP sells this as a Global Security and Financial Watch List citing Patriot Act compliance, and 3rd Degree searches OFAC alongside BIS denied parties. The lists are name-heavy and identifier-light, so false positives are common — vID’s bound identity is what makes a hit reviewable.
What it covers - 02
OIG LEIE exclusion screening
HHS healthcare exclusion list check
Home-care agencies, staffing firms placing clinicians, and anyone billing Medicare or Medicaid have a duty here, and exclusion screening is not in the $25 Standard package. Partner CRAs run LEIE as a named search and as a monthly monitoring feed.
What it covers - 03
SAM.gov exclusions
Government-wide debarment
LEIE is HHS and SAM is the government-wide system — they are not one database. A responsible healthcare package queries both, or an aggregation like FACIS that includes both plus states, and vID binds the person so a similar-name debarment does not reject the wrong clinician.
What it covers - 04
FACIS healthcare sanctions
Aggregated federal and state healthcare exclusions
OIG and SAM will not show a state Medicaid exclusion or a board action that never became a federal exclusion; FACIS exists to close that gap. It is still a list product — not a criminal search, not NPDB, and not a license verification.
What it covers - 05
Global watchlists
International wanted, sanctions, and PEP lists
There is no single “global watchlist” — there is a bundle a given CRA has licensed: Interpol-adjacent wanted files, foreign sanctions, PEP databases, FBI wanted. We will name the bundle you are buying instead of implying universal coverage.
What it covers - 06
Wants & warrants
Outstanding warrant and wanted-person lists
An outstanding warrant can be a failure to appear on a traffic case or a very serious problem — it is a lead, not a conviction. Using it as a hiring bar without following it to the issuing agency is how fair-chance programs go wrong, and vID’s identity step matters here because warrant files often lack tidy dates of birth.
What it covers
How these get fulfilled.
Partner CRAs already run OFAC, OIG LEIE, SAM, FACIS (including levelled healthcare aggregations), global sanctions, and wanted-person files as everyday products. vID supplies a bound identity so name-only list entries have something to match against; the network supplies the lists and the refresh cadence.
Frequently asked questions.

Add the list that can actually stop the hire.
If you bill federal healthcare, start with exclusions and monitoring. If you move money or goods, start with OFAC. Do not assume the criminal stack covered it.
