vID
ID verification, SSN trace & CBSV

Identity verification and SSN checks.

Every search runs on a name. Identity products make sure that name belongs to the person being screened — and map where their records actually live.

The short version

Three jobs share the word “identity.” Binding: vID’s ID scan and face match prove a live person matches a government ID. Locating: an SSN trace maps the names and addresses worth searching. Confirming: CBSV asks the Social Security Administration whether the number belongs to this person. None of them is a criminal record.

If you only remember one thing

SSN trace is a map, not a background check. CBSV is a yes/no against SSA, not a criminal search. Identity verification is the only one that proves a live person is attached to the file. Run them in that spirit and the criminal stack has somewhere honest to land.

When you need these.

Every check vID runs

The candidate scans a photo ID and completes a face match before screening starts. That is the default, not an add-on — because a cheap check on the wrong person is not cheap.

Before any county strategy

SSN trace develops address history and aliases. Without it you are searching the current county and hoping the person never moved, never married, and never used another name.

When the number itself is the risk

CBSV asks the Social Security Administration whether this name, DOB, and SSN match. Use it when fabricated or mismatched numbers are a live concern, not as a substitute for biometric binding.

What this category includes.

  1. 01

    Identity verification

    Document and selfie identity check

Most background checks still start with a typed name, DOB, and SSN — the step where stolen identities and mistyped numbers enter the file. vID reverses the order: the document supplies the identifiers, the face supplies the person, and partner CRAs like JDP already list “Verified Identity Documentation (vID)” as a first-class verification.

  2. 02

    SSN trace & address history

Address and alias locator by SSN

An SSN trace contains no criminal history — it tells you someone lived in Maricopa County under a maiden name so you know to search Maricopa County under that name. Treat the output as a research plan, and bind the person with vID first so the traced number is attached to a document.

  3. 03

    Consent-based SSN verification

SSA name, DOB, and SSN match

Fabricated and borrowed SSNs are a hiring-fraud problem, especially in high-volume staffing, and CBSV is the government check on the trio. It does not verify the person on camera — vID does — and it returns no address history, so use it when the number itself is the risk.

    What it covers

How these get fulfilled.

vID captures and binds the identity. SSN trace and CBSV are fulfilled through the partner CRA network using credit-header locators and SSA’s consent-based verification service. The binding step is ours; the locator and SSA steps are network products sitting on top of it.

vID is built in. SSN trace ships with Standard. CBSV is there when the number itself needs an SSA answer.
