Our technology runs accurate, fast, low-cost background checks.
We built the identity verification and the screening automation. Twenty-eight screening providers sit on the same platform. The whole path runs from the ID scan to the final result.

Accurate
vID Identity Verification
Most criminal records are indexed by name and date of birth. When someone types that PII wrong, the search goes wrong with it.
A 3rd Degree Screening case study of 1,084 orders found that 11.2% of applicants entered a name or date of birth that didn't match their government-issued ID. Nicknames, transposed DOBs, missing middle names, prior names, deliberate changes. Run a criminal search on that typed data and you can miss a record that was there the whole time.
Among those mismatched applicants, more than 1 in 6 (17.4%) had a criminal record reported. With vID, the candidate scans a government ID and takes a live selfie. We pull the legal name and DOB from the document, so screening starts from verified identity instead of whatever they typed on the form.

Synapse
Screening automation we built in-house. It cuts the manual work between a record and a result.
Synapse applies matching rules to each result instead of repeating the same manual steps. It looks for corroborating identifiers such as date of birth, SSN, address, or license. Common names need stronger evidence. Ambiguous matches go to an analyst.
Every automated decision includes its evidence and rule path. Results get suppressed, escalated for review, or sent for county confirmation. A typical Synapse case takes under ten seconds. Cases that need an analyst or county confirmation take longer.

Partner network
Twenty-eight screening providers on one connected network.
You don't have to work each provider's portal separately. Cerebrum's network includes 28 screening providers. Synapse routes SSN-trace and national-criminal searches through that network, then sends county-confirmation requests through TazWorks when a hit needs verification.
Shared volume across the network is what makes a $25 check possible with no subscription or seat license. The network supplies the records. Synapse coordinates the work and brings the results together.
